Rand Paul wins CPAC Straw Poll Vote with 25%

Rand Paul, a rising libertarian-right Senator from Kentucky, is known for his recent filibuster, a 13-hour impromptu argument against the usage of drones on American citizens without due process. He gained a lot of attention from the rest of Congress, both positive and negative.

He won in a close vote against Rubio of Florida, who received 23% of the vote. Rick Santorum and Chris Christie both won 8% and 7% respectively.

He is following in the footsteps of his father, former Senator Ron Paul of Texas, who won the straw poll in 2010 and 2011. Mitt Romney won the 2012 straw poll, which turned out as his nomination as the GOP presidential nominee.

Congratulations to Sen. Paul, good luck to him in 2016!
